The VITAL Lab offers a great variety of services to assist educational institutions and companies utilize the Second Life® platform for their educational or business needs.

The VITAL Lab is involved in two Second Life Learning Communities funded by the Ohio Learning Network (OLN), as well as a larger informal Second Life Learning Community at Ohio University that enjoys support from Academic Technology, Office of University Outreach, Ohio University Without Boundaries, and the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. Dr. Chang Liu, Director of the VITAL Lab, coordinates all of these Second Life Learning Communities. Paul Shovlin from the Department of English is a co-coordinator.

Educational Game Development
The VITAL Lab is a national leader in building immersive interactive educational games in the Second Life® virtual environment. We have vast experience in building this type of content on both the main and teen grids.
Scripting
Second Life® has excellent scripting capabilities that allows automation of common tasks. Being embedded in Ohio University’s Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department, The VITAL Lab has access to almost unlimited computer programming capabilities and can quickly turn your Second Life® vision into a virtual reality.
Content Creation
The VITAL Lab has partnered with the graphic arts department to allow us to offer the capability to rapidly build immersive architectural and engineering designs.
Professional Community Development
Second Life® is an excellent environment to host virtual meetings and conferences. Let us show you how to setup and plan your first or next virtual meeting. We could even host it in our virtual conference room in our Stocker Center on the Ohio University virtual campus. The virtual Stocker Building is shown in the following photo.
