Overview

This module is intended to serve as a replacement for a physical geology lab for those without the resources to preform one. It can however still be done in conjunction with the physical geology lab. It should be able to be treated the exact same as your physical geology lab if it is chosen to be used as a substitute.

Lesson Plan

Description of the Science Content of the Module: Helps students to correctly identify mineral samples.

Game Play: When the game launches, you will be presented with a screen asking you for your name. Enter your name in the displayed box. Press “Submit” to continue. You will be presented with a short introductory screen that will tell you the basics of how to play. Once you have read this information, click “Next” to enter the game proper.

Right-click on a mineral to select it. The camera will focus on the seslected mineral and that mineral will be raised off of the ground. To perform a test, left-click and drag a tool from the left side of your screen overtop of the selected mineral. Release the left mouse button to perform the test. New information will be dispslayed in the notebook in the top right corner.

When you think you know what the selected mineral is, press the “Verify” button in the notebook.For help identifying minerals, you may refer to the “Reference Guide” on the right of the screen. At any time you may right click on a different mineral to select it for testing.
